Naming the band.
It’s one of the most important steps every band has to take, and unfortunately, it’s also one of the first. Some artists have great stories of how they found the name that perfectly suits them. Others have chosen names that have great personal meaning to them. Still others just saw a sign on the back of a building. Whatever works! Here are 16 bands/artists and the origins of their names.
1. Rascal Flatts
The original owner of the name had a small band named Rascal Flatts that played in the 1960s. While watching them perform in a bar, he suggested they use his old band’s name. The band agreed and wrote up a contract right there on the spot on a napkin. The band paid for the rights to the name with their very first signing bonus.
