Billboard Music Award Nominations Are In and Sam Hunt and Chris Stapleton Lead In Country Genre (Full List)

The Billboard Music Award nominations have been announced and Chris Stapleton and Sam Hunt lead the way for the country contingent with 5 overall nominations. Kane Brown, FGL and Thomas Rhett come in a close second with 3 nominations each.

Sam and Chris, not only received country nominations but also broke out into the all-genre categories with 2 nominations each.  Sam is nominated for the all-genre Billboard Chart Achievement Award and Top Selling Song for “Body Like a Backroad. The Georgia native finds himself up against acts such as Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Drake and Ed Sheeran.

Chris also grabbed 3 country noms with 2 noms in the all-genre category, including Top Billboard 200 Artist and Top Selling Album, From A Room: Volume 1. The latter category has Chris going head-to-head with Kendrick Lamar’ DAMN, P!nk’s Beautiful Trauma, Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) and Taylor Swift’s reputation.

The Billboard Music Awards will take place Sunday, May 20 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
