Hours before country’s biggest night—The 53rd Annual CMA Awards—takes place in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena, Maddie & Tae appeared on Good Morning America to announce two early winners.
The country duo stood front and center to share the winners of the Video of the Year and Musical Event of the Year categories.
Maddie took to the first award revealing that Kacey Musgraves’ “Rainbow” video, directed by Hannah Lux Davis was the winning video, beating out Dierks Bentley’s “Burning Man,” Maren Morris’ “Girl,” Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country” and Eric Church’s “Some of It.”
“I’m so happy for her,” Maddie said after revealing the winner. “Yeah she’s taking over, I’m so proud of her.”
Next, Tae took the envelope to reveal the Musical Event of the Year. The winner is… “Old Town Road” by Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus.
