Can lightning strike twice? When it comes to a Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani collaboration, we sure hope so! The couple has reunited again for Blake’s new single, “Happy Anywhere,” and the uplifting melody and heartfelt lyric are a sunbeam in a time of overwhelming clouds.

Blake and Gwen visited their pals on Today for the song’s television debut and during a quick chat with the shows hosts, including his good friend Hoda Kotb, Blake learned that “Happy Anywhere” is already number-one on iTunes.

The pre-recorded performance was obviously acoustic, with just Blake accompanying the duo on guitar. Fans have now had a chance to hear the recorded and produced version of “Happy Anywhere” and they may notice a difference between it and their previous number-one single, “Nobody But You.”

Where “Nobody But You” was a little glossier with a dramatic melody and pop-infused production, “Happy Anywhere” has that loose, jangly, toe-tapping arrangement and production that reflects Blake’s country roots and Gwen’s love of classic country music.

Equally upbeat and positive are the songs sweet melody and lyric. Even though the song was written by Ross Copperman, Josh Osborne and Matt Jenkins, it seems tailor made for Blake and Gwen who have spent the past several months socially isolating on his ranch in Oklahoma.

“Man, there’s never been a better time for ‘Happy Anywhere,’ Blake says. ”We’ve all been in quarantine and lockdown, and hopefully we've been doing that with somebody that we really love and enjoy being around. That’s what happened with Gwen and me this summer — and this entire year.”

“Happy Anywhere” is available for streaming and download now.
