The people love Blake Shelton. That was evident Sunday night (Nov. 11) when Blake was voted Favorite Country Artist 2018 by the people at the People’s Choice Awards.

The country hunk and 2017’s Sexiest Man Alive winner, was up against some tough competition including Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. The award show took place on Veteran’s day and Blake took his moment to honor his late father and all veterans.

“Thank you to the people. I tell you the longer I do this the more credibility I give to fan voted awards,” Blake began before talking about his dad. “I’m wearing this tonight in honor of my dad who is a veteran. Thank you to all the Veterans out there.”

Veteran’s day is the day to honor military veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces.

Blake’s father, Richard, passed in January 2012 at the age of 71. In honor of his dad, Blake sported a red, white and blue ribbon on the lapel of his suit jacket.

Blake also took home a trophy for his role on “The Voice.” The reality show took home Competition Show of 2018.
