In 2010, Blake Shelton released the tune “Hillbilly Bone” with help from his friend, Trace Adkins. The song went to No. 1 and won Vocal Event of the Year at the ACM Awards. While it was a bit cliche, the tune did foster up a sense of rural pride in country music fans and cemented a lifelong friendship between Shelton and Adkins.

Fast forward to 2018 and the friends are headed out on the Country Music Freaks Tour with Brett Eldredge, but before they can come to a city near you, Adkins is going to be Shelton’s special advisor on season 14 of “The Voice.” The pairing is intriguing because Adkins is full-fledged, no doubt about it– a country music singer. #TeamBlake might end up being more country than ever before.

Shelton is coming off a big win in season 13 of the show and is set for a new rivalry on set with another longtime pal— Kelly Clarkson.

“The Voice” starts back on February 26.
