As her husband Jason Aldean sang in front of 22,000 people at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Stephen Paddock unleashed thousands of bullets into the crowd, killing 58 and injuring more than 500.
A few days after the incident, Brittany Aldean has taken to social media to share her thoughts on what happened that night.
“It’s been hard to process what happened the other night… still feel like I’m in a daze. First and foremost, thank you to the first responders. It amazed me at the time and still continues to– these people completely put everyone else’s lives before theirs and we are all forever grateful.”
Brittany, was not on stage watching the show with Jason when the gunfire started, “I was not with Jason, but with some friends in a tent closer to Mandalay. As you can imagine my first instinct was to run to him and his was the same. As we laid behind equipment on stage with some of our road family, bullets flying past… all I could think was, ‘I never even got to hold my baby.’ We all made sure the others knew we loved them and then ran for cover where we stayed for the next couple of hours.”
She went on to say, “We were the lucky ones. I can’t put into words the pain and heartache we feel for the ones who are longer with us. May God be with their families and friends during this horrendous time. Each and every one of you are and will forever be in our prayers.”
Jason released a similar statement saying, “This world is becoming the kind of place I am afraid to raise my children in.”
Baby Boy Memphis is due sometime in December.
Aldean has canceled his next three concert dates.
