As New York was gearing up for a cold winter storm, country newcomer Caitlyn Smith was heating things up inside with her television debut on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
Caitlyn made her way to the Big Apple just days before the release of her debut album, “Starfire,” to perform her current single, “Contact High.” And perform she did. The Minnesota native, dressed in a sparkling fringe shirt and black sparkly pants, belted out the song with masterful vocals, that would make Adele look twice.
Caitlyn offers one of the most passionate performances we’ve seen on late night in, well, ever. Three-quarters of the way through the song, Caitlyn is so into the performance she drops to her knees belting out a pitch-perfect note.
“You give me that contact high when I look in your eyes / I don’t need pills or wine when I’m close to you / I was just in the room / Everything you do, send me to the moon / Happens every time, you send me to the sky / And I’m messed up on your life, baby / Contact high / Contact high,” she sings in the chorus.
Then to top it off, she picks up a tambourine and jams with the band to finish off the must-see performance.
Caitlyn has written hits for Meghan Trainor (“Like I’m Gonna Lose You”), Garth Brooks (“Tacoma”), Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton (“You Can’t Make Old Friends”) and James Bay (“Hear Your Heart”). She’s shared her words and now it Caitlyn’s turn share her voice with the world.
Keep your eye out for this powerhouse vocalist.
