During “American Idol’s” Top 7 performances, the remaining contestants had to sing a song from the year they were born which, for Caleb Lee Hutchinson, was 1999.

To keep in touch with his country roots, Caleb sang Lonestar’s hit song “Amazed,” which was originally released in December of 1999. While he stayed true to the song’s original melody, he gave it his own signature twist that made me love the song on a different level. Meanwhile, I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that this guy is only 19 but has the soul and sound of someone who has been singing for 40 years.

The performance ultimately landed Caleb a spot in the Top 5 alongside Maddie Pope, Cade Foehner, Gabby Barrett and Michael Woodard.

ABC recently announced that “American Idol” will return for a second season with judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
