Carly Pearce and Michael Ray have been sharing the stage together since announcing their courtship earlier this year. Now, it seems the couple may have a duet coming.
During a recent interview with Clay Moden and Liz Mantel of country radio station 106.5 WYRK ahead of the 2018 CMA Awards, the singers hinted at a possible collaboration.
“What if it’s already done?” Carly responded when asked if the couple would ever record a duet.
While she went on to tease the audience, Carly did say if there was a duet on the way it would be released “next year.”
“One of us is making a new record,” Michael chimed in, leaving us all hoping that the collaboration will appear on Carly’s upcoming sophomore album.
Previously, Carly admitted that she looked to her fellow country music friends Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris before pursuing a relationship with Michael.
“Before it came out I actually talked to her (Kelsea) and Maren and they were two of the first people that I told, that were in my artist friends circle,” Carly says. “And they’ve been great and really encouraged me in the beginning. I was really nervous about just—you take on somebody else’s identity, especially when you do the same thing. And I felt like I could go to them.”
She adds, “I remember that whole process and I felt very much like what I watched with her [Kelsea] was happening to me and she was able to kind of look at me and go, ‘Told you that you weren’t in the right thing before. And now you’re understanding where I am.’ And they just really encouraged me to walk towards that and not be afraid of that and to look at them and say, ‘Yeah, we do the same thing, and look how amazing it is for us.’ So they’ve been really awesome.”
