It was a special night at the American Music Awards for country music superstar Carrie Underwood and one that held a pretty significant surprise for the recent host of the CMA Awards. Carrie took home two trophies during the night — Favorite Country Album for Cry
Pretty and Favorite Female Country Artist. It was how she learned of the latter that came as a surprise, though.

Canadian actress Colbie Smulders and actor Michael Ealy from the Think Like a Man franchise began by presenting the country star with her Album trophy, but then Smulders added, “We have a surprise for you before you give your speech. We have a second trophy for you because you also won the American Music Award for Female Country Artist.”
Wide-eyed, Carrie stepped up to the microphone and said “So, it was a good surprise. I was worried for a second. Thank you so much. Thank you, God, for the talents that you give people, the gifts that you give people and not just the people that are up here on this stage tonight, for every single person. We all have gifts and thank you for them, and we hope that we use them to make the world a better place.”
She went on to thank her husband, Mike Fisher, and sons, Isaiah and Jacob for going on the road with her this year. “It was hard, but it’s amazing,” she said. Carrie thanked her team and record label family, but also thanked her beloved fans. “You guys support each and every one of us. You’re the ones that show up to the shows, you’re the ones that stream the music, buy the music. You guys love on us so well and we thank you so much for that. And I want to thank the AMAs for making this award show fan-voted because they’re the ones that matter. They’re the ones that count. They’re the ones that allow us to get to do what we do. Thank you fans, thank you AMAs, God bless you guys.”
Carrie’s most recent two AMAs bring her up to a total of 14 AMA trophies.
Congratulations Carrie and well-done Care Bears!
