During the 51st Annual ACM Awards in Las Vegas, Carrie Underwood took the stage to sing (at the time) her newest single from her Storyteller album, “Church Bells.” She also went on to perform the single at the American Country Countdown Awards and the CMT Awards, but neither of the latter performance were quite like the first (though the CMT number did feature an amazing gospel choir). During ACM Awards performance after commanding the entire awards show stage, she walked up some stairs and played a giant drum for 17 seconds before throwing her drum sticks to the floor and continuing on in her performance.
It was masterful.
Carrie is currently on the second leg of her Storyteller Tour and during a very special tour stop at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, the drum solo returned and it was better than we even remembered.
If you’re wondering, this is the kind of that finally got Carrie that coveted and long overdue CMA Entertainer of the Year nomination.
After the show, Carrie called the night “magical.”
Carrie will be back in Bridgestone Arena with her closest country music pal, Brad Paisley, to host the 50th Annual CMA Awards on November 2 on ABC.
