Carrie Underwood’s parents, Steve and Carole, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an old-fashioned cake and ice cream celebration. Beforehand, during an interview with Ty, Kelly and Chuck, Carrie discussed how the low-key event came to be and it turns out, her dad is all about that low-key life.

Carrie hilariously shared, “They’ve been married 50 years…we’re trying to get everybody together to celebrate and everyone’s like, ‘is dad going to come?’ because he just doesn’t do parties… He also won’t let us give gifts and mom’s like, ‘don’t get him a gift.’ And if you show up with a gift, he won’t talk to you for awhile… If you buy anything, it has to be little.”

Later, Carrie shared some sweet photos of the lovebirds on Instagram, “Today, we celebrated my parents’ 50th anniversary…We listened to stories of how they met and their first years together…the good Lord sure did bless them…and us! I think these crazy kids are gonna make it!”

Of course, all of this talk about Carrie and weddings, got me thinking about her wedding to Mike Fisher in 2010.  At the time, I’m not sure I was a super big fan of either, so I don’t remember looking at photos or anything. Which is why this gem of a quote about the wedding really caught my attention.

What’s that? Carrie’s dog Ace was not only in the wedding, he wore a pink tux and barked the whole time? I don’t know why but Carrie has never seemed like the person to dress up her dog in a pink tux, so this completely new information is fascinating to me.
