Cassadee Pope gives a taste of her upcoming solo release with new single, “One More Red Light,” available today. On the track, the singer isn’t quite ready for the night to be over.
“Let’s keep on driving ’til we find one more red light / Let’s keep it going, take another lap around this town / Another slide over to your side / Stealing kisses, baby I just wanna drag it out / Let’s take the long way home, nice and slow / Before we have to say goodnight / Let’s find one more red light,” she sings on the chorus.
“One More Red Light” was co-written by Cassadee, Kelly Archer and Emily Shackleton. The infectious up-tempo track features Cassadee’s memorable vocals alongside soaring guitar features and a steady beat.
“The idea for ‘One More Red Light’ came from the excitement of connecting with someone that you’re getting to know,” Cassadee says in a statement. “It’s such a fun and unpredictable time, and if it’s going THAT well, you just don’t want the night to end, so the story I’m telling between ‘Take You Home‘ and ‘One More Red Light’ is about hope and vulnerability. This is a whole new chapter in my life. I absolutely dive into the darker times on some of the other tracks coming for this project, but I wanted to start the story here.”
“One More Red Light” is the follow-up to Cassadee’s first single in two years, “Take You Home.” The former singer of pop-punk band Hey Monday, Cassadee won over audiences with her powerful country covers during Season 3 of NBC’s “The Voice.” Her 2013 country debut, Frame by Frame, hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart and featured lead single “Wasting All These Tears.” She continued to prove her vocal chops as duet partner to Chris Young.on the Grammy nominated “Think of You.”
