It’s hard to believe it, but we’re at the live semi-finals on “The Voice” where the Top 8 contestants battle it out for the chance to make it to the Top 4— meaning the remaining artists have to really bring their A-game.
Chevel Shepherd, who has stood out as Kelly Clarkson’s golden country artist this season, continued her country streak with a stunning performance of LeAnn Rimes’ 1996 studio album hit, “Blue.” In true Chevel fashion, she paid homage to Rimes while giving it her own unique twist.
Despite being one of the younger contestants this season, Chevel has an old soul sound to her voice that makes you believe she’s felt every single feeling the song’s story is telling— especially with this song.
Blue / Oh, so lonesome for you / Why can’t you be blue over me?
The week prior, Chevel sang Loretta Lynn’s “You’re Looking at Country,” and actually got a personal shout out from Loretta herself who posted, “Loved it, honey!” on her Facebook page with a link to Chevel’s performance.
We’ll find out tonight whether or not Chevel makes it on to the Top 4 — but regardless of the outcome, we know we’ll be fans of hers for life!
