Chevel Shepherd Wows on The Voice With Dixie Chicks’ “Travelin’ Soldier”

The Voice just keeps on heating up, y’all! During the final stretch of knockouts, the coaches and contestants are pulling out all of their stops in hopes of making it to the live shows.

Coach Kelly Clarkson, who took home the win last season with Brynn Cartelli, hasn’t held back this season, winning over some of the best talent the show has ever seen to be a part of #TeamKelly— including 16-year-old Chevel Shepherd.

Chevel Shepherd, one of the youngest contestants this season, took on the Dixie Chicks’ heartfelt ballad, “Travelin’ Soldier.” She gave it her own powerful, soulful twist all while staying true to the song’s message. She went up against her fellow Team Kelly teammate, Sarah Grace, who sang “I”d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James.

Though Chevel has had a couple of strong performances this season, this one proves that she has what it takes to win this thing— and to say I’m glad Kelly Clarkson has someone with this kind of country twang on her team would be an understatement.

Ultimately, Kelly chose Chevel as the winner, but used her save to keep Grace in the competition.
