Chris Stapleton was one of the big winners in the 2018 GRAMMYs, winning the award for Best Country Song, Best Country Album, and Best Country Solo Performance. To cap off his evening, Stapleton stepped up to center stage alongside Emmylou Harris to sing a tribute to Tom Petty and remember the artists we lost in the last year.

While accepting the Best Country Solo Performance award for his song “Either Way,” Stapleton said, This is always an amazing honor just to be here and to get to be a part of this. This song is just me and an acoustic guitar, that’s all it is, so for that to win is a beautiful thing to me.”

So it was fitting then that his tribute was just him and Emmylou with acoustic guitars singing “Wildflowers.” It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was powerful. Stapleton even took off his hat.
