Chris Stapleton may be the exact opposite of a “Rhinestone Cowboy,” but his tribute to the legendary Glen Campbell was nearly perfect. Performing just a couple of days after Campbell passed away at the age of 81, Campbell launched into the classic country music song after “Whiskey and You.”

Before playing “Rhinestone Cowboy,” Stapleton said, “We lost a country music legend a couple days ago. I’m gonna try to do a Glen Campbell song tonight, not because I’m gonna do a great job with it, but because I want to pay my respects to Mr. Campbell. Please forgive me if I don’t do Glen Campbell justice. I’m sending this out tonight to Glen, wherever you’re at tonight, Mr. Campbell.”

The performance was even better as Stapleton did it with just an acoustic guitar and his incredible vocals.
