During breaks Jimmy Fallon likes to mingle with his audience. Little did he know that a country music star was in the crowd. Bill Hayes, a 92-year-old actor and musician, had not only been a guest on “The Tonight Show” three times before, but was also a Billboard Hot 100 #1 country artist.

Bill Hayes was a prolific actor from the late 40’s to the 60’s and the voice behind the iconic “Ballad Of Davy Crockett” and a frequent guest on “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson. As soon as Fallon found out who Hayes was, he started freaking out, as he tends to do. Sheryl Crowe even came over and bowed to Hayes.

“The Ballad Of Davy Crockett” sold 10 million copies and went on to become the theme for Disney’s “Davy Crockett: King Of The Wild Frontier”.

In addition, Hayes plays a recurring role of Doug on “Days of Our Lives”. His son claimed he is the oldest working actor, which, I don’t know, maybe. I’ll need to see some data on that.

Not bad for an audience member.
