Before Cole Swindell was the ACM New Artist of the Year or the guy with multiple No. 1 singles, he was just a songwriter trying to make his way in Nashville. His current single, “Flatliner” with Dierks Bentley in mind and knew he had to get it to him. But, as the story goes, Dierks never heard it– until Cole asked him to sing it with him for You Should Be Here album.

“I remember when we were writing it, I thought ‘man, this sounds like something Dierks would sing.’ And years later, before we were touring together, I told him the story and he said, ‘send me the song,'” Cole told us on the red carpet at the ACM Awards.
