A hearty congratulations and welcome to Nashville to This Is Us star Chrissy Metz. The actress, who plays Kate Pearson on the award-winning NBC show, has signed a recording contract with Nashville’s Universal Music Group, which is also the label home of artists like Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Lauren Alaina, Little Big Town, Darius Rucker, Jon Pardi, Maddie and Tae, and many more.
“To say I am excited to fulfill a lifelong dream is an understatement,” Chrissy says. “Music has always been my first love and to be working alongside Cindy Mabe and the incomparable team at UMG is truly a gift!”
Chrissy caught the nation’s ear as Kate, who is an aspiring singer on This Is Us. She recorded the Diane Warren song, “I’m Standing With You” for the soundtrack to the movie Breakthrough, which also starred in. She later performed the song live on stage at the ACM Awards alongside her new label mates Carrie, Lauren, Maddie and Tae and Mickey Guyton.
Singing isn’t anything new to Homestead, Florida native. She has performed as Chrissy and the Vapors for several years.
Chrissy is currently in the studio working on the debut country album which is set to release later this year. The finale of season four of This Is Us airs on January 21.
