At just twenty one years old, country newcomer Abi is hoping to take country music by storm with the release of her debut single, “A Day Without You.”

Written by the late Andrew Dorff  Jimmy Robbins and Lucie Silvas, the emotional tune tugs at the heartstrings as the newcomer sings about not being able to imagine a day without someone you love.

“’A Day Without’ brings on a lot of different emotions for me. The sheer thought of losing someone is absolutely terrifying, as is the deep love you might have for a person with who you might feel like you cannot go on a day without them,” says Abi. “I think that my father’s passing gave me a new perspective on life, and enabled me to channel much deeper emotions into my craft.”

“A day without you /  I can’t imagine that’s just something / I can’t do without you baby  / I got nothing / I don’t want to know / no I don’t want to go a day without you / without you,” she sings in the chorus.

While the song lyrics are open to interpretation, the video shares two scenarios of letting go of a loved one. One scenario shares a husband leaving his wife to go into the military, while another shows a single mother whose daughter is going off to college, allowing the viewer to attach the song to their own personal experience. For Abi, that experience is the passing of her father.

“I think that we feel most passionate about intense moments of experience and emotion, which for me are love, loss, the strength of my mother and of course the loss of my father,” says Abi.  “For the video, we wanted to focus on milestone memories. A mom and her daughter (leaving for college) and a couple separating, when one leaves to join the military. Emotionally, I’m definitely very connected with the idea of separation.”
