They may be best friends but Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley are also fierce golf competitors. So it stands to reason that when One Country‘s Kelly Sutton caught up with the “For the First Time” singer, he had a prediction to make.
“My golf game is pretty good. It’s going pretty well. I’m happy with it,” Darius shared.”I’m going to beat Charles tomorrow so that’s all that matters. Yeah, I’m gonna beat him.”
Them’s fighting words.
What Darius is referring to is the inaugural ACM Lifting Lives TopGolf Tee-Off, taking place on Saturday (April 14) in Las Vegas and hosted by the two friends. The event allows fans to enjoy live performances, while artists compete in a tournament of golf skills. Skills that both Charles and Darius are sure to show off.
TopGolf Tee-Off will raise funds and awareness for the ACM Lifting Lives Diane Holcomb Emergency Relief Fund, which covers unforeseen, immediate financial needs of music related organizations and individuals.
“So many guys play golf. So many people out on the road play golf, so it’s a great combination,” added Darius.
After beating Charles at Golf, Darius will join Lady Antebellum for the co-headlining Summer Plays On Tour. The tour kicks off July 19 in Toronto, Ontario, with Russell Dickerson as the opening act.
