Dolly Parton was honored with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award during the 50th Annual CMA Awards and what better way to honor her than with a tribute full of performers she has been influencing and inspiring for decades?
Pentatonix and Jennifer Nettles started the performance off with a harmonious “Jolene,” before Nettles headed back to center stage.
In an absolutely amazing moment, Reba totally flubbed the opening lines to “9 to 5” and interrupted her own performance by saying, “I saw Dolly and it mixed me up.” Of course, she recovered and didn’t miss a beat after that.
Kacey Musgraves then sang one of her favorite Dolly songs, “Here You Come Again” and proved why she’s a GRAMMY winner and a continual CMA Female Vocalist of the Year nominee– her vocals are flawless.
Finally, Carrie Underwood and Martina McBride walked out for a mini duet of “I Will Always Love You” before all of the ladies joined them and sang straight to Dolly like she was the damn matriarch of country music– because she is.
