Ellen Challenges Actress Laura Dern To A High Intensity Game of “5 Second Rule”

When Laura Dern visited the set of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to talk about her role in “The Last Jedi” and her recent Elle cover, things became serious as Laura opened up about her own experience with sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood—following the Harvey Weinstein Scandal.

But true to form, Ellen got back to her comedic roots by challenging her friend to a nerve-racking game of “5 Second Rule.”

“I’m so frightened,” Laura shared.

Here’s how it’s played. Ellen’s musical director, Twitch, reads a category and contestants have five seconds to name three items in that category. They must complete their turn by hitting the buzzer under the time limit.

Ellen went first, having to name three activities that are best with a partner. You can imagine her answers. She named her three things just as the five seconds was up.

Laura was up next, getting a difficult category for some people. The “Big Little Lies” actress had to name three things that happened in the movie “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” Since Laura plays Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo in the movie, she should ace this, right? Her answer of course was, “Pew, Pew, Pew,” mimicking the sound of guns firing. Apparently that answer was acceptable.

The fun went on from there, as Ellen and Laura were forced to list three words that describe the other.
