When Eric Church released his album, Mr. Misunderstood, in a non-traditional way, the industry wondered how it would be embraced by fans.

With little fanfare and complete faith in his fans, the country rocker sent out his album only to members of his fan club, dubbed the Church Choir. He then surprised the 2015 CMA Awards audience with the announcement of the album, where he made it available to the public shortly after. What? No build up letting fans know it was coming? No promotion?

Nope. Eric Church didn’t need it. The Church Choir and many other fans have responded in a big way, making Eric’s fifth studio album a platinum-selling album—for sales in excess of 1 million units. The unannounced album features 10 singles written by Eric including hit singles, “Mr. Misunderstood,” “Record Year,” and “Kill A Word.”

In addition to a Platinum-selling album, Eric has reached the No. 1 spot on the mediabase chart with his latest single, “Round Here Buzz,” taking over the top spot from Maren Morris’s “I Could Use a Love Song.”

Next stop for Eric is a performance at the 2018 GRAMMY Awards along with fellow country artists Maren Morris and Brothers Osbourne in a tribute to those who lost their lives in the 2017 Route 91 Harvest Music Festival shooting.
