I have heard it all.

Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush,” arguably the best country music song to be recorded in the last decade has been rewritten into a praise and worship song. Yeah, that song. The one that was originally pulled from a few radio stations because of its “lesbian agenda.” Despite the controversy surrounding the song it spent an impressive 13 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, breaking a record set in 1959.

After the impressive reign at the top of the charts, “Girl Crush” has gotten a rewrite from one enthusiastic country music fan– Amber Dawn.

“The Lord’s Touch” was posted to YouTube on July 20.

I felt the Lord’s Touch

It’s hard to explain it but

It made my heart rush

No slowing me down

I want Him real bad

Want everything He has

My smile and this mended laugh

He’s given me now

Chorus

I wanna hold His hand

Under the morning sun

I wanna give myself to the Holy One

I wanna brand new life

I wanna forget my sins

I’m throwing my hands up high

And giving it all to Him

As a fan of Little Big Town and the Lord Jesus Christ (not in that order), I like the sentiment behind what’s being done, but honestly can’t think of a worse song to turn into a song about the Lord. Well, maybe “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).”
