Absolutely everything about the CMA’s “Forever Country” is brilliant. From the arrangement of the songs to the supremely directed and edited video it’s a masterpiece. Properly, it’s being billed as the biggest video in country music history and was put together in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the CMA Awards.
However, a few moments do stand out above the crowd.
10 Moments from “Forever Country” That Brings Feelings, Tears, and Pure Joy:
1. Tim and Faith
This moment between one of country music’s original power couples is authentic and sweet. It’s like they’re singing right to each other.
2. Luke and Miranda’s Duet
Of all the duets I never knew I needed to hear, this is the one.
3. Randy Travis
In a perfect world, we’d have Randy’s voice on this track. Unfortunately, life happens, but the fact that he’s even able to appear should not be discounted or ignored.
4. Dierks and Trisha Talk A Walk
When Dierks looks back at Trisha, it’s like he’s leading her somewhere or something. It’s just this weird, perfect moment.
5. Willie Nelson
If you don’t get feelings when Willie’s voice appears, I can’t help you.
6. Reba and the Ryman
The fact that a computer could rightly capture the sun coming from the windows at the Ryman is technology at its finest. If you have never seen the sun come in and shine on the stage– go, run! Quick!
7. Carrie’s Solo
As you listen to “Forever Country” and finally grasp all of the things that are happening, you are waiting on this moment before you even know it’s going to happen. It’s like the whole thing was arranged for this very moment.
8. Kacey’s Look
It’s like Kacey knows something no one else, not even Dierks, knows. And when you think about it– she probably does.
9. Tim Is Still The Man
If you thought for even one second over the last few years that Tim McGraw had lost some of his “it” factor– look at this man. He’s better than ever.
10. Dolly’s Appearance
Look, I’m not one to mince scripture or downplay its legitimacy, but if you look at this clip of Dolly and don’t kind of think of, “An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them…” then you will now.
Dolly Parton, country music’s real life angel.
