Gabby Barrett grew up in Pennsylvania singing and idolizing Carrie Underwood, so naturally when it came to audition for “American Idol,” she wanted to sing a Carrie song.

Gabby told the judges, “this is the biggest thing… it was always on TV growing up. Carrie Underwood is my idol. I love her, she’s beautiful.”

First, Gabby sang Carrie’s “Good Girl,” complete with the hand claps before Katy Perry stopped her and said, “I want to hear one thing more, something that maybe helps you dig in.” Then, she tried to sing Carrie’s “Church Bells” and Gretchen Wilson’s “Redneck Woman,” before she finally settled on “His Eye On The Sparrow.”

Finally, Gabby got that ticket to Hollywood.
