Interesting people keep coming out of the wood work in Louisiana to see Garth Brooks. Brooks’ show features a request segment in which he mingles with the crowd, meeting some interesting people and then singing acoustic solo versions of songs just for them. One of his recent guests was celebrating her 89th birthday and hadn’t been to a concert since she saw Elvis live in New Orleans. So Elvis and Garth singing just for her. Not bad, for only going to two concerts ever.
The octogenarian must have been a little surprised by the way concerts have changed. In Elvis’ time, even rowdy crowds politely sat and listened to the music. Today, people stand through the spectacle of a show.
Garth is known for being one of the great showmen of modern music. Heading into the crowd to serenade a woman with “If Tomorrow Never Comes” is not as crazy as him flying around on wires, but it’ makes for a great show.
Garth isn’t slowing down anytime soon, so get out your poster board and get to a Garth concert. You never know what will happen.
