George Strait, Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton to Appear on Hurricane Harvey Relief Telethon on Sept. 12

Country stars have come out in droves to help those suffering from the effects of Hurricane Harvey and George Strait is no exception. The King of Country music has announced he will be part of the star-studded telethon, Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief.


For his part, George and his Ace in the Hole band will perform at a benefit concert in San Antonio at the Majestic Theater on Sept. 12, with all proceeds from that concert going to Rebuild Texas Fund—a fund built to help the many families and communities across Texas that have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey. The San Antonio concert will include performances by Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen.

ABC, CBS, CMT, Fox and NBC will air portions of George’s benefit concert as part of the one-hour telethon, which will include stars such as, Blake Shelton, Julia Roberts, Matthew McConaughey, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Matt Lauer and more.

George, a native Texan, has been at the forefront of artists pledging their ongoing support to the hurricane victims in Houston and it’s surrounding areas. .

Proceeds from the telethon will benefit United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, Direct Relief, Feeding Texas, The Mayor’s Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief (administered by the Greater Houston Community Fund) and RebuildTx.org through the Hand in Hand Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund managed by Comic Relief Inc.
