Granger Smith just scored some major points with his wife Amber.
The Texas native set up a special moment on stage for his wife in her hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. A complete shock to Amber, Granger surprised her in front of family and friends.
“It’s a special show because this is my wife’s hometown,” Granger said in the first video. “Her parents, her friends are all gonna be there. She’s gonna be there. I’m gonna try to make it a special night, because she deserves it.”
During Granger’s show, when he sings his hit song “Happens Like That,” a couple usually takes the stage for a marriage proposal. That night in Fort Worth, Texas was no different. However, Granger realized that while he sings the songs for millions of fans, he’s never sang the song to his wife, whom the song is written about.
“True love, it happens like that / Outta the blue sky, lost in her blue eyes / Yeah, when it happens like that / Nothing to lose turns right into you / Doing all you can do just to keep her around / Till the moon goes down and you’re back at your house / One thing leads to another, you’re loving each other /One look and you never look back / It happens like that, yeah,” he sings in the chorus.
That all changed when, after the on stage proposal, Granger called his wife up to the stage to sing the song to her this time. At a point in the song he even got down on his knee, as he did the night he proposed.
In a series of three videos posted on Instagram, Granger shared his plan for the special night, followed by the surprise moment.
“I sing this song every night, but never to the girl I actually wrote it about…until now,” he wrote.
