Gretchen Wilson charges dropped

Gretchen Wilson has put her recent arrest at Bradley International airport behind her by settling the dispute in a Connecticut court on Thursday (Sept. 13).

Gretchen, who was arrested in late August for allegedly becoming belligerent on an incoming flight and causing a disturbance, headed back to Connecticut to appear in court for the hearing. The singer agreed to a $500 donation to the criminal injuries compensation fund, which provides financial assistance to crime victims, in exchange for the dropped charges.

“This has been incredibly trying for me in many ways,” the singer told reporters outside the courthouse. “I’m a person like everyone else and we’ve all had bad days. It’s just that celebrities are kind of targeted when they have one.”

Gretchen is best known for her No. 1 country hit, “Redneck Woman,” which catapulted the singer to stardom, earning her a Grammy award in 2004. She followed that up with Top 10 hits, “Here for the Party,” and “When I Think About Cheating.”
