When Hank Williams Jr. was let go from singing the theme song for “Monday Night Football” in 2011—due to some controversial remarks comparing President Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler—we never thought we’d see the day he would come back.
That day has come and Hank Williams Jr. has returned to ESPN’s Monday Night Football with a new version of “All My Rowdy Friends Are Here on Monday Night.” This time Williams brought along his “rowdy friends,” Florida Georgia Line and Jason Derulo to help him out.
The three friends recorded audio tracks in May, before filming the opening video together on June 4 at the Marathon Music Works in Nashville.
“I started in 1989 when ABC was celebrating the 20th season of Monday Night Football,” said Hank. “It soon became a staple that fans grew to expect and wanted to see and hear. I am thrilled to be back and bring the fans such a new and dynamic rendition of this anthem. Are you ready for some football? Cause I sure am!”
“This is a huge honor to be a part of such a legendary song and night!” said Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard.
The theme song made it’s debut on Monday (Sept. 11) as the New Orleans Saints took on the Minnesota Vikings.
So we have to ask. Are you ready for some football?
