Just before Christmas, a flash of light lit up the California sky, scaring a few residents, as the SpaceX rocket lifted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base, north of Santa Barbara.
Country singer Cam was one of those Californians witnessing the event, but she wasn’t scared. In fact, Cam was in a car heading down the California highway as she captured some really cool video of what people were seeing that night.
What most Californians didn’t know was that the Falcon 9 was lifting off from Vandenberg AFB carrying 10 Iridium satellites to put into orbit. According to SpaceX, an Elon Musk rocket manufacturing company, this marks the 18th and final launch of the year.
But as folks worried and wondered if aliens were descending on their home territory, the Los Angeles Fire Department had to release a statement saying, “mysterious light in the sky is reported to be as a result of Vandenberg Air Force Base launching rocket to put satellite into space.”
Cam took to Instagram to share the video of this eye-catching launch.
“That was wild. It went from orange to white,” she said in the video. “This is crazy. I didn’t know they launch rockets here.”
However, she also added her own suspicions on what the flash of light really was.
“They’re saying it’s a @spacex rocket launch … but I think it’s a cover up for Santa testing out new sleigh technology 🚀🎅🏼” she wrote on Instagram.
We’re apt to agree with Cam. Santa’s gotta stay one step ahead with the latest technology.
