Since Jamie Lynn Spears and I are around the same age, she’s been on my radar for a long, long time.
Even in the late ’90s, when she was simply known as Britney Spears’ spunky little sister, it was clear to me (and everyone) that she was going to be a star. But, it wasn’t until 2005, when she was cast as Zoey in one of my favorite childhood shows “Zoey 101,” that her career really took off — this is when I really jumped on the Jamie Lynn train.
But, even though I’ve known and loved Jamie Lynn from the beginning, the new, 2016 version of the young talent has to be my favorite.
Now, as a 25-year-old woman, Jamie Lynn has transformed herself not only into a successful writer, loving mother and devoted wife, but an ultra-talented up-and-coming country music artist — basically, I’m a big fan and you should be
5 Reasons Why You Should Be a Fan of Jamie Lynn Spears:
1. She’s honest.
In her recent TLC documentary “When the Lights Go Out,” Jamie Lynn went into great detail explaining her rise to and dramatic fall from fame. It was incredibly touching, raw and made me respect her even more.
The thing I love the most about this though is that she’s not trying to hide anything.
2. She’s a great mom.
Also in her documentary, Jamie Lynn talked extensively about her daughter Maddie, who she had at the young age of 16.
She said several times that Maddie is her world and, even when she was a young, pregnant teen, she knew her calling was to be a mother — and she’s a great one.
3. She’s a supportive sister.
Obviously, Jamie Lynn’s sister is the ultra-successful Britney Spears. But, instead of being intimidated of her sister’s success and trying to compete with her, Jamie Lynn is incredibly supportive and proud of her sister’s unmatchable career.
4. She’s a super talented songwriter
Over the past eight years or so, Jamie Lynn has been tirelessly working to improve her songwriting, singing and performing abilities — and it definitely shows.
She just released a single called “Sleepover,” which portrays this talent perfectly.
5. She has the passion and commitment that it takes to be a successful artist.
Recently, Jamie Lynn took to “The Nashville Sessions” to perform an acoustic version of her newest single “Sleepover,” and it was lovely. Throughout the performance, it’s easy to see that the lyrics are super personal and have a deep meaning to her — and that’s what it takes to make a great artist.
