Jason Aldean made a surprise visit on Friday (April 6) to the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Az. where he visited Las Vegas shooting victim Jovanna Calzadillas.
Jovanna was struck down while attending Jason’s concert at the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival on Oct 1. The result left 58 dead and hundreds more injured. Not expected to survive, Jovanna came through after several months recovering from her injuries.
When the shooting broke out Jason was on stage performing. Devastated for those lost and injured during his show, the Georgia native cancelled three concerts immediately following the tragedy. He has since returned to the stage saying the he won’t allow fear to prevent him from living life.
“My heart aches for the Victims and their families of this Senseless act,” he said following the tragedy. “I am so sorry for the hurt and pain everyone is feeling right now and there are no words I can say to take that pain away.”
Months later, the 41-year-old singer paid a visit to the Barrow Institute, presenting Jovanna with an autographed guitar. The Barrow Neurological Institute posted an image of country star and Jovanna on Facebook. The post read:
“Country music artist Jason Aldean made a very special trip to Barrow today to visit patient Jovanna Calzadillas and her family. Jovanna has made a remarkable recovery at Barrow after being shot in the head at the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival in October where Aldean was the headliner. Thank you Jason Aldean for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit one of your #1 fans!”
