When walking the red carpet at awards shows, artists tend to bring the mama’s along as their dates. Country newcomer Jimmie Allen did just that when he hit the red carpet, really blue carpet, for the CMT Music Awards.

One Country‘s Kelly Sutton, saw Jimmie’s mama, Angela, standing by herself waiting for her son to finish his interviews, so she decided to grab mom and get the scoop. Because if you want to know about how an artist was as a child, who better to ask?

Angela was happy to oblige as she shared a few things about Jimmie that fans would love to hear. When asked if he was crazy or good as a child, Angela told the story.

“As a child he was all of that but not crazy in a bad way,” Angela shared. “he was energetic. I knew he always had a motive to do something. He always was different in his music, which I really liked and pushed and his grandmother too.”

Angela also shared her best memory of little Jimmie, who sounds like a sweet boy.

“We used to sing around the house all the time. I would tell him to go get something and I’d go, “Jimmie go get thaaaat,” Angela said singing.” And he would go, “yes mommy” (in a singing voice). We’d sing to each other around the house. But what he would always do is take out a part of the day and he would show his appreciation for me and that was awesome.”
