As her third studio album, Golden Hour, released on Friday (March 30), Kacey Musgraves swung by the “Today Show” set in New York to perform her new song “Butterflies.”

The song, written by Kacey, was penned after the Texas native met her husband Ruston Kelly, whom she married in Oct. 2017. “Butterflies” tells the story of a person wondering aimlessly through life until meeting the person that gives her that fluttery feeling and transforms her into a new person.

“This is the first song that I wrote after meeting [my husband]. I’m so excited to play it,” Kacey shared with the hosts. “Now you’re lifting me up, instead of holding me down. Stealing my heart instead of stealing my crown,” she sings in the chorus.

Dressed in white knee-high go-go boots and a white mini dress with flowing sleeves, Kacey stood in front of a video screen that displayed butterflies and flowers, projecting a dreamy feel.

“I can’t believe it’s out,” the “Biscuits” singer said of the album, following the performance. “Go get it. I’m so proud of it.”

Kacey will continue touring as part of Little Big Town’s The Breakers Tour through April 21. She will follow that up with her own Oh, What a World: Tour, kicking off Oct. 21 in Amsterdam.
