Abby Anderson CMT Awards red carpet

When you’re a new artist, you’re always hoping that your music gets out to the masses and your message is heard. Well, newcomer Abby Anderson has proof that her music is being heard. The Texas native received an out of the blue phone call from pop star and “American Idol” judge Katy Perry, simply to let Abby know that she loved her song.

“Miss Katy Perry called me,” Abby told One Country exclusively. “She heard ‘Make Him Wait” (Abby’s debut single). And she called me up and told me she really loved the song. Now, that’s pretty cool.”

Because Abby was excited by the call, she could only get the words “Thank you” out as a response.  “I was like, ‘I’m talking to Katy Perry right now.'” Who could blame her?

Abby’s debut single “Make Him Wait,” written by Abby, Tom Douglas and Josh Kerr, has the newcomer singing about making a guy realize your worth before rushing into a relationship.

“Make him wait by the phone at the door to meet your dad / Before that first kiss he’s gotta hold your hand / you can’t get it back when you give yourself away / Yeah a boy’s gonna run but a real man’s gonna stay / Girl make him wait / Hmmm make him wait,” she sings in the chorus.

When asked if the two set up a future writing appointment, Abby said that it hadn’t happened, but  “I’m going to put that out there in the Universe. I will put that positivity out there, but she’s awesome. She’s as real as it gets.”

Your move, Katy.

Abby will be hitting the road this fall with Brett Eldredege as part of his The Long Way Tour. Brett’s manager also made a surprise call to Abby during a showcase in Nashville, surprising her with the invitation to join the tour.
