In 2009, during Keith Urban’s Escape Together World Tour, Glen Campbell joined him on stage in Las Vegas to play a couple of acoustic songs. Before they starting singing Campbell said, “I want to tell a story…”
Urban smiled and listened as Campbell told the story of meeting a young Urban saying, “he’s the best in the world, in my opinion.”
Upon Campbell passing away at the age of 81, Urban shared a note of remembrance with fans and per the usual with Urban, it’s thoughtful, warm and might make you cry a little.
Urban shared, “The night I won my first country music award, I got back to my hotel room and there was a fax on the floor.
“Welcome to the award winning world kid. You got it.” Glen Campbell.
… I love Glen for so many reasons – but above all, for his humanity. My thoughts and prayers are with Kim and all of his extended family today. May peace be with you all. Go rest high on that mountain, Glen.”
And here’s that amazing acoustic performance.
