Fans braved the bitter cold Wednesday night (Jan. 17) as they waited in line to hear Keith Urban put on a mini-concert during a pop-up show at Nashville’s Exit/In.
As fans filled the venue, Keith took the stage to perform hits “Somewhere In My Car,” “Wasted Time” and “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” But there was a reason Keith gathered hundreds of his closest fans. One reason was to announce that he would be hitting the road for the Graffiti U Tour, bringing along country sweetheart Kelsea Ballerini.
During the show, Keith chose a fan from the audience to reveal the Aug. 24 date of the tour that he will be playing the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The lucky fan was Ashley, a music business major at Belmont University. Ashley informed Keith that she wanted to be a country singer. The “You’ll Think Of Me” singer grabbed his guitar and asked Ashley to sing a song with him. Ashley suggested his hit “Without You” and off they went.
It was then that Keith surprised the audience and Ashley by saying “If you come to the Nashville show we should get up and do that song together at the arena. Is that a deal?” Ashley squealed with excitement and Keith told her to” mark it on your calendar.”
The other reason Keith held the pop up show was to announce a new album, his tenth studio album also called Graffiti U. Few details about the album were revealed, as to when it would be released, but Keith did reveal that he is still in the studio putting together some new music.
“It’s going to be coming out this year, very soon, I hope,” he said from the stage. “I’m getting very close to finishing.”
After performing a duet of Camila Cabello’s “Never Be The Same” with Kelsea, followed by Kelsea taking the stage to perform two of her own hits, “Legends” and “Love Me Like You Mean It,” Keith came back on stage to share four new songs slated to be on the upcoming album—”Steal My Thunder,” “Same Heart,” “Texas Tired,” and “Parallel Line,” the latter of which will be released on Jan. 19 as his new single.
Keith closed the nearly two-hour show playing more of his hits including, “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16,” “Little Bit of Everything,” “The Fighter” and his most recent single, “Female.”
“I’m a little nervous tonight, I gotta confess,” Keith told the crowd. “But the fact that you all stood out in the subarctic temperatures to line up to come in here tonight is the most phenomenal thing. Thank you so much.”
You can catch Keith Urban and Kelsea Ballerini in a city near you this summer.
