“A Series Of Health Challenges” Forces Kenny Rogers To Cancel All Future Tour Dates

-

Kenny Rogers has cancelled all of his remaining 2018 tour dates due to a “series of health challenges.” Rogers expects a full recovery from these challenges but, at his doctors’ advice, will retire from touring to recuperate. The announcement was made through Harrah’s Cherokee Casino’s Twitter account.

“I didn’t want to take forever to retire,” said the 79-year-old. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to say farewell to the fans over the course of the past two years on The Gambler’s Last Deal tour. I could never properly thank them for the encouragement and support they’ve given me throughout my career and the happiness I’ve experienced as a result of that.”

Sadly, it seems that the advice of “The Gambler” has permeated into Rogers’ career. “Every gambler knows that the secret to survivin’ is knowin’ what to throw away and knowin’ what to keep,” he sings. “You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em, know when to walk away.”

For Rogers, it’s time to walk away from life on stage.

Shortly after the announcement, he posted a picture of himself onstage without a caption to his Instagram account.

Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family, and friends during his recovery.
