It’s easy to look at Lady Gaga and assume you have nothing in common with her. Everytime I think about that meat dress she wore to the MTV Video Music Awards, I kind of assume we grew up on totally different planets. Then, when I remember that time she showed up to the GRAMMYs in a giant egg, I know we did.

But, then, I’m reminded of the time she sang at the Oscars to pay tribute to the “Sound of Music” and even Julie Andrews loved it.
All of that to say, Lady Gaga is like me and she’s like you, too– she loves Garth Brooks and grew up listening to him with her dad. Gaga shared some of her country music memories with Rolling Stone recently, proving that yes, we’re from the same planet and truly everyone on this planet loves Garth, “So I love Johnny Cash, I love Neil Young, I love Garth Brooks. When I was little, my father used to play ‘I’ve Got Friends in Low Places’ really loud in the basement, and I’d catch him down there dancing by himself, screaming real loud. I thought it was cool.”
Currently, Lady Gaga is on her Bud Light x Lady Gaga Dive Bar Tour, which she kicked off in East Nashville to cries of– Lady Gaga has gone country. Which isn’t totally true, but it’s not totally false.
