If you caught Lady Gaga’s second performance on “Saturday Night Live,” you probably saw someone you recognized as a big-time Nashville songwriter accompanied her on acoustic guitar and as backup vocalist.

You know that Nashville songwriter as Hillary Lindsey, one-third of the Love Junkies (“Girl Crush”) and co-writer of 10 of Carrie Underwood’s No. 1 hits including, “Jesus Take the Wheel” and her most recent, “Church Bells.”

Lindsey co-wrote three tracks on Gaga’s new Joanne album with her. She told Rolling Stone, “She is a badass songwriter. Pretty much everything she said, I’m like, ‘That’s a title! You’ve gotta either stop talking or you’ve gotta let me come live here for a month, because everything you say is a song.’ It was just the two of us and it was just a very natural process, a straight-up songwriting process.”

“Million Reasons” was the second tune the two wrote together.

After the show, one of her songwriting partners, Lori McKenna, couldn’t contain her excitement.
