Lauren Alaina Cancels Appearance in the Wake of Family Emergency

-

One Country is sending their support to Lauren Alaina and her family after the young singer-songwriter has cancelled an Aug. 29 show.

In a post on Rochester, New York WBEE’s Twitter page, they announce that the “Doin’ Fine” singer had to cancel her appearance at the station’s Bands at Barnard event due to a family emergency.

Lauren followed up the post with a personal apology saying, “I’m really sorry I can’t be there. Love you guys.”

Earlier in the day, Lauren has posted a comment about her CMA nomination in the new artist category. She wrote, “God always shines some light in a time of darkness. It’s been a tough week for my family, but this brightened everything up a little. Thank you to all the people who made this nomination possible. You know who you are.”

The next day, Lauren shared that she’d also be missing Pepsi’s upcoming Gulf Coast Jam, thanking fans for the love and support.

As previously reported, Lauren’s stepfather, Sam Ramker, was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma in March. In the most recent update on the GoFundMe page set up to help defray medical costs, Sam is in ICU due to a lung infection and would undergo surgery to drain the fluid. As optimistic as her daughter, Lauren’s mother wrote, “We just hit a speed bump in the road. Treatment will continue this week as planned.” She also asks for continued prayers.

The CMA Awards broadcast live from Nashville Nov. 14 at 7pm CT on ABC. Lauren is the only female nominated in the new artist category which also includes Luke Combs, Chris Janson, Midland and Brett Young.

Congratulations to all of the nominees.
