As the women of country were honored Wednesday night (Oct. 17) there were many performances that had the crowd up on their feet. One of the best performances of the night belonged to Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman and Karen Fairchild with the incomparable Gladys Knight.
The female trio commanded the stage as they started off the performance with a vocally stunning rendition of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” But it was when the ladies broke into “Help Me Make It Through The Night” by Sammi Smith that the audience fell silent just to take in the powerful moment.
Both Karen and Kimberly were honored at the event as two of the top Artists of the Year, celebrating female artists. The ladies were presented their awards by band mates Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook.
Other honorees of the evening included Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris and Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott.
