Lori McKenna is an amazing singer, songwriter and person.

She is one of the most sought after songwriters in Music City — even though she resides in Massachusetts — and very frequently co-writes with Hillary Lindsey. The two make up the majority of The Love Junkies, the songwriting trio of Hillary, Lori and Liz Rose.

When Lori McKenna received her ACM Songwriter of the Year title this year, she was convinced the award should go to Hillary.

“I did think it was Hillary award,” Lori told One Country. “I really did. I’m going to leave it at her house. We’re going to share it because we’re a team.”

She also was able to explain how it’s possible that she’s the first female to receive the title, despite country music being home to legendary songwriters like Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn.

“It’s a fairly new award,” Lori explains. “I think it’s only about five or six years old.”
