Later this month Shania Twain will be honored as the CMT Artist of a Lifetime Award during the 2016 CMT Artists of the Year celebration. Twain, a five-time GRAMMY winner, was selected for her indelible impact and achievements in country music.

Not only that, she inspired a generation of female country music singers to go out and blaze their own trail in the country music world.

“Seeing a really strong, bold woman go out and make the music she wanted and wear what she wanted to wear. She was so unapologetic,” Maddie & Tae shared in this video with CMT.

Of course, they also said, “Shania was the bomb 20 years ago and she’s still the bomb today.”

That’s one way to put it, ladies.

In the past, Maddie & Tae have covered Twain during shows.

The 90-minute special will air on October 20 on CMT and will feature once-in-a-lifetime performances, tributes and unforgettable toasts as some of the biggest stars of music, film and television gather to celebrate the five artists selected by CMT as the top artists of the year: Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton,Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan and Thomas Rhett.
