Maren Morris Officially Releases “Dear Hate” with Vince Gill To Benefit Music City Cares Fund for Las Vegas Shooting Victims

-

Last summer following the tragic police shootings during a peaceful protest in Dallas, Maren Morris shared “Dear Hate” with the world for the first time.

Following the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history at the Route 91 Harvest festival, Morris is releasing an official version of the song, recorded with Vince Gill.

The song is a quiet ballad with a heavy punch. It addresses hard topics like Civil Rights, he assassination of President Kennedy and the events of September 11th, but focuses on the triumph of love over hate.

You could poison any mind. Just look at mine.
Don’t know how this world keeps spinning ’round and ’round.
You were there in the garden like a snake in the grass.
I see you in the mornings staring through the looking glass.
You whisper down through history and echo through these halls,
but I hate to tell you, love’s gonna conquer all.

I hate to tell you,but love’s gonna conquer all.

Morris shared her plans for the tune on Instagram,I wrote this song 3 years ago, recorded it last year with Vince Gill, and always have fans asking when I’ll put it out. I never knew when would be the right time, but I realized today that there’s never a right time. Hate is everywhere, and I’m sick of not doing enough. In the darkest tunnel, there is still love & music. That’s what it’s here for. Here is Dear Hate. Any cent I see from this I’m donating to the Music City Cares Fund.
